Since business promotion is one of the strategies in which a
business owner needs in other for him/her to increase the number of customers and also increase the sale of a product or services, there are some certain methods in which this act (business promotion) can be done. Those ways in which business can be promoted depends on the types of business that is involved. Before I go down to details of this post, I will like to give a little explanation on what Business Promotion is for your better understanding.


Note also that whenever I mention business promotion, am also referring to advertising your business

What is business promotion?

Business promotion is the method in which an entrepreneur used to create awareness and also increase the sales of product and services. It is the ability of a business owner to make his/her business known to the people.

It is quite unfortunate that some business owners does not know that there are some simple ways in which they can explore their small business. They only believed that any number of customer that patronize them is enough. Some people that have small business scale (e.g saloon, decoration, photocopy, e.t.c) always have the mindset that business promotion was only made for large scale business (companies, industries, e.t.c). They are not aware that any level of business have its own method of promoting. It always to pain me whenever I see some business owners complaining that they are not getting sufficient customers as they expected. 

How can you get customers while nobody knows about the type of business you are doing? Are they spirit? How can you tell me that you are not getting customers while you are just sitting one place waiting for customer to fly to you? For you to get customers, you must make a move, you must create an awareness. Yes, you must promote your business. 

Where my point do lies? Where my points lies is that you must advertise your business

Advertising your business will not only increase the number of your customers but it will also increase your daily income. It will increase the number of sales per day. Be it any business, it all needs advert. There are different platforms in which you can use to advertise your business depending on the one you can afford.

In this post, I will be considering some methods and ways in which you can use to promote or advertise your business. I will also try to point out some types of business you can use each method to promote.

1. Online promotion/Online advert

This is the method in which a business owner can advertise his/her business using social media or any other platforms like blog and website. This method usually involve paying money to the owner of website/blog so that he can place your business advert on his website/blog. It can also be done by paying some amount of money to Google or Facebook in other for them to run the advert and promote your business. 

Some types of business that are suited for this type of adverts are industries, companies, web developers, e.t.c

2. Radio/Television advert

It involved paying some amount of money to the radio/ television stations for advert. It is best fitted for large scale businesses and some small scale businesses.

3. Organizing a seminar

This is another unique way of promoting your business. This can be successful when the seminar is organized where the people that are interested in that particular goods and services are. It is the act of exposing or telling a group of people more about your business. It require a little amount of money that you will use to make some necessary arrangement, like hiring of  a hall for the seminar.

This type of advert are suitable for cooperate business, enterprises, e.t.c

4. Through complementary card/fliers

This particular points involves all kinds of business, be it small or large. It is the act of printing some necessary information concerning your business on a piece of papers. Those information can include a little description of your business, your contact address, contact number, your email address and a sample of your business in pictures.

How you can use it is by giving it to any one that comes to patronize you. You can even give it to your friends to help you distribute it.

5. Having a website and social media account

Apart from paying for online promotion, you can also have your own business website and also a social media account like Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and many others where you can be posting and sharing about your business. Having a website is very important especially for large scale business because you can display your goods and services there,

6. Designing a banner

This is also one of the method of promoting your business. It is specifically important in promoting business like decorations and baking of cakes, photocopy business, computer training/web designing business.

7. Tell a friend to tell a friend

Last but not the least is “tell a friend to tell a friend”. This method of business promotion doesn’t require much stress. It only need you to tell your friend about your business and ask him to also inform his friends about it. It is good for small scale business
