Life can be so
challenging that it can change who we are or who we intend to be. It can even
destroy our goals. Daily, we struggle to be the best of who we can be but it
seems as if some forces are blocking us. Such a challenge can deny us of our
happiness, health and make us hate ourselves. It can make us feel weak,
indecisive or lonely. But that is not how it supposed to be.
Though, developing or recreating a Better You is not that easy but we can
still to some extent make ourselves to be comfortable and fulfilled with who we
are. We can still surmount a life challenges and live the life we intend to
live. We still have the power to change who we are and how others see us. You
can become the new you. Above all. You can reconstruct yourself!!!
Are you disappointed in the kind of life that you
are living? Are you facing any challenging? Are you looking for a solution on
how to be a better you? Ok, don’t worry, you are at the right place to get the
answers.
In this post, I will try to point out some
certain things we must do to become the best of who we are. How you can be a
better you
Listed
below are the Ways To Become A ‘Better You’ You Can Be
1. Create your vision
When you create a vision, you have set a solid step
of being a better you. I like it when I create a vision
that I began calling it my “vision of self-image.” I mapped out at least 120
seconds per day to think about my vision during that period, I would
psychologically prepare what I needed to do in the upcoming 24 hours to make
sure I was moving myself in the direction of my vision.
So
to be a better you, you must create a vision and works towards it, by doing
that, you would literally see yourself making a good decisions.
2. Meditate
on it
As
I said above, firstly when I created my vision, I mapped out 120 seconds to
think about it. As time goes on, I began to add another 120 seconds. I would
spend a total of 240 seconds picturing how I wanted my life to be, and what I
could achieve in the next 24 hours to help make my vision become a reality.
So
in the other for you to make your vision stronger, you have to meditate on it
daily and by doing so, you are building a foundation for a better you.
3. Have some
people in your life who you admire
Yes,
in other to be a better you, you must have someone that you are looking up to,
someone you wish to be like. Am not saying that you should copy exactly what
the person did but just some good part of the person’s character and how he
became successful. As a student and also blogger, I have some people that am
looking up to. Yes, I am admiring them and I want to be like them.
Therefore, check in the field of your vision the
great people who have achieved and become successful. They could be friends,
family, coworkers, or your romantic partner, for example. Write down their
names.
4.Trigger your own wake-up call
I
highly recommend the above exercise to anyone who is feeling uninspired in a
job, monotonous about their relationships, unchallenged, dissatisfied,
unhealthy, disenchanted, or any of combination of these descriptors.
When
I did it, what I saw made me very sad. I pictured myself as slightly
overweight, heavy-drinking, and, well, an underachieving, excuse-making chump
of a man.
Still
sitting in the sauna, I decided to presume instead how I wanted my life to be in five
years.
What
I saw made me smile. I imagined myself as a successful business professional,
happily married, and healthy. I saw a man of honor and character who was proud
of how his life was turning out.
Try
it out and see for yourself.
5. Create your vision of
self-image
I
liked this vision so much that I began calling it my “vision of self-image.” I
made a point to take 30 seconds per day to think about my vision.
Eventually,
I began adding on another 30 seconds to think about “daily integrity.” In the “daily
integrity” portion of my mental video, I would psychologically review what I
needed to do in the upcoming 24 hours to make sure I was moving myself in the
direction of my vision.
I
would literally see myself making good decisions and doing what I needed to do
throughout the upcoming day: anything from waking up at the right time, to
completing my studies, to controlling my drinking and prioritizing exercise.
6. Do it every day
Every
day, I would spend a total of 60 seconds picturing how I wanted my life to be,
and what I could do in the next 24 hours to help make my vision become a
reality.
Slowly
but surely, I started doing better and better. I liked the changes I was making
in my life…so much so that 15 years later, I still take the time to
think about my vision and daily integrity.
All
in all, it takes 60 seconds per day to complete, which honestly feels like a
lot of work some days.
However,
without knowing where you want your life to go, and without mentally rehearsing
each day what it takes to get there, you are likely to end up as a person you
don’t want to be. After all, how can you do well when you don’t even know what
your goal is?
Conclusion
For
whatsoever reason, I am built in a way that if I don’t put energy into
achieving greatness, I turn out to be a chump. If you’re anything like me, you
might want to consider putting 60 seconds per day into achieving your own level
of greatness, if you want to become the person you want to be. Remember, the
days you don’t feel like completing your vision and daily integrity mental
rehearsal are the days you most need to do so. Trust me on this: it will be
worth the time.
